THE CROSS POST DRIVER RANGE
The Cross Fence Post Driver has a unique working mechanism. A hydraulic motor drives a chain that lifts a 300kg or 400kg weight to top of a double beam mast. The weight then trips at the top of the mast, is dropped from the top, free-falls down and makes contact with the post-cap to drive the post solidly into the ground. The weight can also be used to tap weights by reversing the motor and not letting the weight trip at the top for free-fall.
There are no rams, ropes or pulleys. On the Cross Post Driver Range there is no big rush return oil from the post driver to the tractor, loader or excavator like a ram and rope machine. This means that the Cross Fence post driver can be mounted on any telescope loader or excavator and powered through the machines existing hydraulic oil pipe system. This freefall system allows the machine to be faster than any ram and rope machine.
The Cross Fence Post Driver comes with a hydraulic top link as standard on all models. Cross provide up to six different fence post driver options. All models come with external valve chest controls.
All Cross Post Drivers comes with a safety guard around weight to comply with all safety regulations requirements. The machines are easy and safe to operate. The Cross Fence Post Driver design allows for flexibility in use to meet all possible working conditions
The Cross Fence Post Driver range comes in 2 sizes. HD & LD give the buyer an option of 300kg or 400kg weights. Some models are only available in HD.
Free Fall Weight
Quality Guaranteed
The Cross Free fall weight system is unique to all Cross Post Drivers.
The free fall system uses far less oil than a ram & rope machine. Ram and Rope machines fall rate is determined by the speed of the oil exiting the ram. Due to this they are slow or else need an extra return pipe to speed them up. Hence the reason nobody uses them on loaders or back actors. The Cross system can be used on any loader once there is a feed and return oil lines. The hydraulic motor does not need any extra piping.
Models
SIDE TILT POST DRIVER
The Side tilt machine comes standard with a 3 bank valve chest.
This controls weight, side tilt ram and hydraulic top link. The side tilt feature allows the machine to tilt the mast either way for working on steep slopes or hills.
The side tilt model can be purchased with the 300kg or 400kg weight.
CROSS SHIFT POST DRIVER
The Cross Shift machine comes standard with a 4 bank valve chest.
This controls weight, side tilt ram, cross shift and hydraulic top link. The cross shift addition allows operators to straighten posts or work off centre to the tractor. This machine also comes standard with side tilt.
The Cross Shift model can be purchased with the 400kg weight.
SIDE MOUNTED POST DRIVER
The Side Mounted machine comes standard with a 7 bank valve chest.
This controls the weight and 6 different movement options. This machine is also telescopic in both directions (sideways and out from the tractor)
The Cross Side Mounted Post Driver comes with the 400kg weight.
JCB MOUNTED POST DRIVER
All Cross Post Drivers can be mounted on a JCB back actor at ease. This is due to the post drivers free fall system and low oil requirements. The post driver simply plugs into any oil feed and return.
LOADER MOUNTED POST DRIVER
All Cross Post Drivers can be mounted on any loader which has the lift capacity. This is due to the post drivers free fall system and low oil requirements. The post driver simply plugs into any oil feed and return. The quick attach frame allows the user to use it on the tractor and the loader on different days.
Solid Filled Weight
Molten Metal
All 400kg weights on the Cross Post Driver Range are solid filled at the foundry local to the Cross Factory.
The weight casings are manufactured in house by Cross using high quality laser cut steel. These casings are then filled with molten steel and left to cool before the top sealing caps are welded on.
The 300kg weight is also filled with solid pieces of steel but these are not poured in. 300kg weights have steel punching's pressed into the casing and then the weight is sealed.
All post drivers pre-2012 use the solid filled weight as standard. The 300kg weight was developed for operators requiring a lighter hit or for smaller posts.
Safety Systems
SAFETY CAGE SYSTEM
All Cross Post Drivers are fitted with a safety cage around the weight as standard. These are manufactured from flexible steel backed rubber. This is due to steel only safety guards cracking on a post driver. Post Driver Weight Guards are compulsory world wide.
PLACING A POST
When placing a post under the post cap, the weight is used to lift the post cap to the desired height. The weight is attached to the post cap via a removable mechanism. When the weigh is lifting the post cap the auto trip system is disabled. This is due to the safety chain seen on the side of the machine.
Once the post cap is disconnected from the weight the auto trip system is re-activated
Wire Unwinder
Make it Easy
Cross Post Drivers can be fitted with a wire unwinding system. This allows users to hold to different types of wire, roll them out and tension. The wire unwinders also fold down for ease of loading
